Q: Can I convert Word or Excel documents with Cyclone?
A: No. Cyclone can only convert raw text. MS Offce documents are written in their own complicated format. Converting such files with Cyclone will produce garbage. You should use specialized applications such as icWord (www.icWord.com) and icExcel (www.icExcel.com) for this task.
The only exception is when Word or Excel document has been saved as plain text or Unicode text — in this case Cyclone will do its job right.

Q: Can I convert RTF documents with Cyclone?
A: Usually not. It depeneds on how non-ASCII characters are written to a file. Different applications may do it differently. You may try converting RTFs with Cyclone but I would recommend other tools better suited for this task (check Info-Mac archives in "/info-mac/text/" folder). For RTFs saved by MS Word try icWord.

Q: How about a text written in two or more languages?
A: Text with multiple encodings can only be converted when style (font) information is provided. Such information is provided in files saved in SimpleText format. Cyclone does not read style information saved in SimpleText files and cannot process runs of different encodings. This feature is planned for future version of Cyclone. Currently you may try to open such file in my other application: SUE and export to Unicode.
